Piyasha charged in drug case
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today pressed charges against model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha and her associate Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan in a case filed with Bhatara Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
CID Inspector Md Rafiqul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka, an official of General Recording Office at the court confirmed to The Daily Star.
In the charge sheet, 14 people have been made prosecution witnesses.
The IO, In the charge sheet, said the charges brought against Piyasha and Mishu were primarily proven and they should be brought under trial for her offences.
Detectives on August 1 arrested Piyasha from her Baridhara residence. They seized 780 yaba tablets and alcohol from her residence.
Later, she was placed on a four-day remand in the case filed with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
After getting information from her in remand, detectives on August 5 also seized 7,200 yaba tablets from the city's Bhatara area.
A case against Piyasha and Mishu was filed with Bhatara Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier on August 3, Rab arrested Mishu and Masudul Hasan alias Jisan, another associate of Piyasha, from the city's Bashundhara residential area.
On September 14, CID pressed charges against Mishu in an arms case filed with Bhatara Police Station.
