Rapid Action Battalion yesterday arrested the driver of the compactor vehicle of Dhaka North City Corporation -- involved in the accident that killed a pillion rider of a motorcycle at Dhaka's Panthapath on Thursday.

The driver of the DNCC truck was identified as Hanif, Rab sources said, adding that further details would be shared on the matter at a press briefing this morning.

Ahmed Kabir Khan (50), a garment accessories trader and a former employee of the Bangla daily Prothom Alo, was critically injured on Thursday afternoon after a DNCC truck hit him in Dhaka's Panthapath.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, Asaduzzaman, inspector (investigation) of Kalabagan Police Station told The Daily Star.

Police had seized the vehicle but its driver fled the scene at the time.

A day before this incident, Nayeem Hasan, a student of Notre Dame College, died after a vehicle of DSCC hit him while crossing the road in Gulistan.
