Money laundering case: NSU trustee board chair gets bail

A Dhaka court has granted Azim Uddin Ahmed, the chairperson of North South University's Board of Trustees, ad-interim bail until January 25 next year in a case filed over laundering of Tk 304 crore.
Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after Azim surrendered before it yesterday, seeking bail, said Md Aminul Islam, assistant director of Anti-Corruption Commission.
The court granted bail to Azim, who was shown as a fugitive in the charge sheet, considering his illness, social status and age.
The accused must appear before the court during the hearing on the bail petition on January 25, the court said.
Earlier on November 10, ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court.
