Govt served legal notice to take steps to avoid deaths in lightning strikes
A rights organisation today served a legal notice to the government, requesting it to take necessary steps in 15 days in order to avoid deaths and injuries of people in lightning strikes in the country.
Law and Life Foundation sent the legal notice through email to secretaries at the ministries of disaster management and relief, environment, forest and climate change, and health and family planning; director general of directorate of health services and director of Bangladesh meteorological department for taking steps.
In the legal notice, the organisation said if the respondents (notice receivers) don't take necessary steps in 15 days to avoid deaths and injuries of people in lightning strikes, a writ petition will be moved before the High Court seeking necessary directives on them.
