A High Court bench today declined to hold hearing and pass any order on the letter submitted by 10 Supreme Court lawyers for examining the termination of Anti-Corruption Commission official Sharif Uddin.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman asked the lawyers to file a writ petition seeking necessary directives if they are aggrieved with ACC's action over Sharif Uddin's dismissal, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star.
Ten SC lawyers led by Mohammad Shishir Manir on Sunday sent the letter to the judges of the HC bench and Supreme Court registrar general, requesting them to examine the termination of Sharif Uddin.
In the letter, they prayed to the HC to issue a show cause notice asking the ACC to explain why it has dismissed Sharif.
The lawyers also urged the HC to direct the government to provide security to Sharif Uddin as he has apprehended about his security.
The lawyers sent the letter under the Bangladesh Supreme Court (High Court Division) Rules, 1972 so that the HC considers the letter as a petition and pass necessary order on suo moto (voluntary) move.
Lawyer Shishir Manir moved the letter before the HC today.
