DSA case against Evaly couple: Court seeks info from bKash, Nagad
A Dhaka court today directed managing directors of bKash and Nagad Ltd to provide information to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding deposits of Tk 28 lakh to the accounts of Mohammad Rassel, founder and CEO of Evaly, and his wife Shamima Nasrin, chairman of the e-commerce platform, in connection with a case filed under Digital Security Act.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after Prodip Kumar Das, a sub-inspector of CID and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted an application in this regard.
In the application, the IO said Mohammad Alamgir Hussain, a customer of the Evaly and also the complainant of the case, sent Tk 28,00,000 through bKash and Nagad from January 1 of 2020 to September last year for buying electronic goods from Evaly.
But the accused did not supply those goods. So, the information about taking money through bKash and Nagad would be needed, the IO added.
On September 30 last year, the complainant filed the case against the couple and 15-20 unidentified people with Badda Police Station.
Rab arrested the couple on September 16 last year during a raid at their flat in the capital's Mohammadpur after a customer filed a case with Gulshan Police Station over embezzlement.
Later, they were shown arrested in different cases filed against them with different police stations over embezzlement.
