Court asks to produce JKG’s Sabrina on Nov 22
A Dhaka court today directed the jail authorities to produce JKG Healthcare Chairperson Sabrina Sharmin Hossain before it on November 22 in a case filed over possessing two National ID cards with fake information.
Sabrina, who was jailed for 11 years on July 19 in another case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates, is now in Kashimpur High-Security Jail in Gazipur.
In the same case, her husband Ariful Chowdhury, also the chief executive officer of JKG Healthcare, and six others were sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for the same offences.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after Sabrina's lawyer Pronab Kumar Kanti submitted an application, seeking the first-class division in jail for the accused.
The lawyer also appealed to the court to hear the petition in presence of his client.
On August 30, 2020, Gulshan Thana Election Officer Abdul Momin Mia filed the case against Sabrina with Badda Police Station.
According to the case statement, Sabrina became a voter for the first time in 2009.
At that time, she mentioned Mohammadpur as her current and permanent address. She also mentioned December 2, 1978, as her date of birth.
She enlisted her husband's name to be 'Haque' and her educational qualification as a post-graduate.
In her second NID card, issued in 2016, she mentioned Badda as her current and permanent address and her husband's name as "Ariful Chowdhury".
In the second ID, she used December 2, 1983, as her date of birth.
She also changed her mother's name, as well as her educational qualifications, declaring herself to be a graduate.
