Ansar member arrested for killing wife in Cumilla
An Ansar member was arrested today for allegedly beating his wife to death with a bamboo stick at Sadakpur village under Burichang upazila of Cumilla.
The deceased was Sahinur Akter (40), wife of Ansar member Jahangir Alam (45) of the upazila, reports our Cumilla correspondent.
Police arrested Jahangir, confirmed Inspector Maksudul Alam (investigation) of Burichang Police Station.
"Jahangir killed his wife by beating her indiscriminately with a bamboo stick. There are several injury marks on her head and body," said Maksudul.
After hearing screams last night, family members rushed to Jahangir's house but could not do anything as the door was locked from inside.
Later, locals called police, who then came and recovered the body and arrested Jahangir from the spot. The body was sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, said Maksudul.
A murder case is being filed against Jahangir at Burichang Police Station, added Inspector Maksudul.
