19 Jamaat-Shibir activists held in Ctg
Nineteen leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested from a house in Chattogram city last night.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Baniyapul-Mazargate area of Adurpara, under Chandgaon Police Station, and arrested them when they were holding a "secret meeting with an aim to create unrest in the city during the ongoing lockdown", said Rajesh Barua, inspector (Investigation) of the police station.
Inspector Rajesh said, "Chandgaon Thana North unit Jamaat Amir Hasan Mohammed Yasin, general secretary Rafiq Uddin, assistant Baitul Mal secretary Md Iskander were among the arrestees."
Later, a case was filed under Special Power Act with Chandgaon Police Station.
