18-yr-old stabbed to death over mobile game “Free Fire” in Shariatpur

An 18-year-old was killed in a stab attack allegedly by another boy following a dispute over plying Free Fire, a popular Battle Royale game, in Naria upazila of Shariatpur last night (August 2, 2022).
The deceased, Sizan Akon, 18, was a class 10 student of Bihari Lal High School in Naria, our Shariatpur correspondent reports quoting Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge of Naria Police Station today.
The OC said the incident took place in West Lonsing Madbar Kandi area around 8pm yesterday. Three other friends of Sizan were also injured in the incident.
OC Mahbub said Sizan was playing Free Fire with his friends on mobile phone while one Labib Chhaial (20) along with his friends were playing the game as well at the same place last evening.
At one point, Sizan had an altercation with Labib since the latter protested against Sizan talking loudly with his gaming partner while playing.
The police official said later, around 8:30pm, on the way back home, Labib along with his fellow friends intercepted Sizan's path and again locked into an altercation over same issue. At one point, Labib stabbed Sizan in the chest, leaving him injured critically.
Hearing his screams, Sizan's friends Munna, Asif, and Sohan rushed to the spot but Labib also stabbed them too with the knife as they tried to save Sizan.
Locals rescued them and took to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Sizan dead around 9 pm.
Asif was given first aid while Munna and Sohan are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals, he said.
On information, police conducted a drive last night and arrested two persons -- Ibrahim Bepari Joy and Raheem Hawlader, said the police official, adding, "Our special team is working to nab the rest of the accused."
Sizan's father Billal Akon filed a murder case against five persons, including Labib with Naria Police Station this afternoon.
