17-year-old killed in BSF firing in Dinajpur
A 17-year-old Bangladeshi boy was shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) along Dainur border in Dinajpur Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as Minhajul Islam, son of Jahangir Hossain of Khanpur (Bhitarpara) village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila and a class nine student of Khanpur High School, said Abu Bakar Siddique, chairman of Khanpur Union.
The incident took place around 10pm yesterday (September 7, 2022), reports our Dinajpur correspondent quoting the chairman.
The chairman said the BSF personnel opened fire when Minhajul and 8/10 others went near the border of main pillar number 315 of Dainur border.
Minhajul was shot and died on the spot, the chairman said.
The BSF later took his body inside the Indian territory. They are yet to hand over the body.
Naik Subedar Akhter Hossain of Dainur BPO under Fulabari BGB Battalion-29 said, "We have sent a letter to the BSF in this regard. The BSF replied to the letter. Preparations are underway for a flag meeting."
Minhajul's body is now left in Teliapara area of South Dinajpur, India.
