Kunipara slum fire in Tejgaon under control
A fire that broke out at a slum in Kunipara in the capital's Tejgaon around 7:50pm has been brought under control after two hours.
Frantic efforts of twelve firefighting units brought the blaze under control around 10:10pm, said Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
Ayesha Begum, a slum dweller, told The Daily Star that the fire started in a three-storey tin-shed wooden house owned by one Md Jakir.
The woman said she lived on the ground floor of the same house.
She said she has been suffering from heart disease for a long time and managed Tk 30,000 for treatment, but failed to save the money as she ran out of the house as soon as the fire broke out.
While visiting the spot, our correspondent found that three wooden houses were burnt in the fire.
No casualty was reported in the incident and the cause of the fire could not be known immediately, said fire service.
