9 killed in collision on Mumbai-Goa highway
At least nine people were killed and one injured in a collision between a truck and a van on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Indian state of Maharashtra this morning.
The accident took place in Repoli village of Raigad district, more than 130km southeast of Mumbai, reports The Indian Express.
A family was travelling to Guhagar in Ratnagiri district when their van collided with a truck heading towards Mumbai, the Indian media reports quoting Somnath Gharge, superintendent of the city police.
"The deceased included a girl, three women and five men," according to another police official.
A four-year-old girl was injured in the accident, and is receiving treatment in a hospital in Mangaon, it was added.
