Golam Mostafa Lane Kishore Sangha edged past Lalbagh Tarun Sangha by a lone goal in the day's Metropolis Pioneer Football League match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Stadium at Kamalapur yesterday.
Kayes scored the all-important goal for the winners in the 60th minute as Golam Mostafa became the group champions.
DIV I KABADDI
Matuail Milon Smriti Sangsad emerged unbeaten champions of First Division Kabaddi beating Dhaka Wanderers Club 32-27 in the final at the Kabaddi court.
The newly crowned Matuail team, which earned one lona, was trailing 11-20 during the first half.
As the First Division champions, Matuail earned the rights to play in the Premier League from next season.
General secretary of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation M Nazrul Islam witnessed the final as chief guest and later distributed prizes among the winners.
AIUB FOOTBALL
Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) became champions in the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) six-a-side football tournament after they beat Faculty-Officers in the final at the Banani Club ground on June 19.
Wali and Redwan were adjudged man-of-the-final and man-of-the-tournament respectively while Dhrupad scored the most number of goals in the competition.
Vice-chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z Lamagna and founder chairman Dr Anwarul Abedin distributed prizes among the winners.
UFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
7 Nation Army beat Zonked United 4-3 in penalties in the final of the UFA Champions League football tournament at the Dhaka Residential Model College ground.
After the match was deadlocked at 1-1, the referee decided to take it straight to the penalties.
The tournament began on June 20 with 32 teams.
The top scorer in the league was Asif of DOHS United while the best striker award went to Ariq of the champions. The best defender award went to Ibrahim of PowerPuff Boys and the best goalkeeper went to Ashraf of 7 Nation Army.
The Fair Play award winners were Fuller Road FC and the Best Player was taken by Mubarak of Zonked United.
