Songs of S.D. and R.D. Burman performed in Pabna
Baithak, a local cultural organisation formed by young artistes, arranged a musical programme at Pabna Bonomali Institute auditorium recently. Singers rendered compositions of Sachin Dev Burman and Rahul Dev Burman, the eminent music composers of the sub-continent. The songs however were accompanied by western instruments. Local artist of the district, Hosne Zaman inaugurated the programme.
The show began with renditions of Sachin Dev classics "Banshi shuney aar kaaj nai" and "Neeshithey jaiyyo phulobon-e". Tanvir, Punam and Sani Chaki performed the songs. A prominent singer of the district, Proloy Chaki conducted the programme.
The singers asserted that the songs of S.D. and R.D. Burman have an eternal appeal. "Use of western instruments is meant to give the songs a fresh sound while keeping the original melody intact. This approach will hopefully draw the attention of young artistes," Sani Chaki said.
