The Night It Rained

The wind builds up its frenzy.
The clouds rob my sky.
I invite the night to walk into my sleep.
The dreams tiptoe in
To sit on its periphery.
The story unfolds
A drop, then two
The sky tips towards me.
Far off the mist dances
Harmonious green.
My heart, keeper of rain
Asks the downpour:
Why do the free colours
Hold me in unbreakable embrace?
The question becomes the answer.
It is I who unleash the force
From the grip of my mind
I pause,
To become your lover
Momentarily, I walk that disconnect
I breathe your strength
Flow with your green.
Let the scent of earth seep through me.
Raindrops and I metamorphose,
Becoming
The wet moon holding desires of many
The ocean surrendering its tides as offering
I hear rain-sound sway to the rhythm of dancing anklets.
My soul travels more than I,
In search of a gesture
Perhaps a possibility
A crystalline moment.
I come as close to you
As soundless prayer.
Dancing with the rainstorm
Monsoon poetry shapes you,
A silhouette
Forbidden,
Your face gets away.
A seamless bond lingers
United yet separate…
