More than 400 Hajj passengers were stuck at the Dhaka Airport for around eight hours yesterday (June 18, 2022).

A flight of Saudia airlines was scheduled to depart from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport ferrying the hajj pilgrims at around 5:50pm.

But the flight couldn't depart as the scheduled aircraft didn't reach the airport, sources at the HSIA said.

Hajj pilgrims have been waiting at the Dhaka airport from 2pm on Saturday.

The plane that was supposed to carry the hajj pilgrims has not yet arrived in Dhaka.

Authorities at the HSIA said the hajj passengers were likely to fly to Saudi Arabia at around 12:30am today (June 19, 2022).

Hajj passengers have been asked to arrive at the Ashkona Hajj camp at the city's Uttora at least eight hours before the flight.

Saudia Airlines authorities once scheduled to depart the flight at 11pm but later canceled it.

The flight was then rescheduled for early Sunday morning.

Group Captain Kamrul Islam, executive director of HSIA said, the flight couldn't leave on time due to a technical issue.

However, all arrangements have been made for the passengers, including food.
