Make Dapdapia bridge safe for use
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had inaugurated a 610-metre-long bridge named Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Bridge (locally known as Dapdapia bridge) over the Kirtankhola river on Barishal-Kuakata route on February 22, 2011. This bridge connects Barishal city with Patuakhali, Barguna, Bhola and some other localities. Every day, lakhs of people and thousands of vehicles pass over this bridge.
But the problem is that at night time, it's totally dark. Not a single lamppost on the bridge is working. So walking or driving over the bridge during this time is dangerous. The students of Barishal University often fall victim to muggers as they have to cross the bridge to go to university. Also, darkness increases the risk of road accidents. Besides, a pillar of the bridge broke two years ago and it still hasn't been fixed. I urge the authorities to take steps to solve these problems as soon as possible.
