Khaleda reiterates demand for judicial probe into Bihari camp arson
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today reiterated her demand for a judicial probe into the recent incident that left 10 people killed at Kurmitola Bihari camp in the capital.
While exchanging her views with the family members of deceased at her Gulshan office this evening, she also urged the authorities to release the arrested Biharis and withdraw the cases filed against them.
Hours into the incident on Saturday, the former premier alleged the ruling party men and law enforcers for the deadly “attack” on a Bihari camp in the capital and demanded a judicial probe into the incident.
The BNP chief prayed for the salvation of the departed souls of the deceased and immediate recovery of the injured.
Earlier, at least nine people including eight members of a family were burnt alive as locals set several houses on fire at the camp in a series of clashes with Bihari people over firecracker explosion on Saturday morning.
Another person, who was hit by pellets allegedly fired by police during the clashes, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), hospital sources said.
The clashes ensued after the Fazr prayers following arguments over exploding firecrackers in front of a mosque on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
