One Covid-19 death reported after a month

After a month of no reported Covid-19 deaths since April 21, Bangladesh reported one death from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today.

Sixteen people tested positive for the virus during the same period, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 29,128 and the mortality rate stands at 1.49 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 19,53,204, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 0.41 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 13.87 percent, said the press release.

A total of 3,927 samples were tested across the country during this time.

At least 172 patients recovered from Covid-19 during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 19,00,747 and the recovery rate at 97.31 percent, said the release.

The lone deceased was a man, aged between 41-50, added the release.
