Political will mandatory to recover grabbed rivers
A comprehensive and integrated action plan and participation of all stakeholders can save the rivers of Chattogram division, which have been facing extinction and serious threat due to encroachment, grabbing and pollution, said speakers at a workshop today.
Apart from that, political will and institutional reforms are also mandatory to recover the grabbed rivers from the influential quarters, they said.
The workshop titled "Chattogram Divisional Rivers affair workshop" was organised by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (Bela) in Chattogram city's GEC area, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
The speakers also urged the authorities to raise awareness and engage the community from every step of society to save the river for a sustainable future for the country.
