BTS the most nominated group at 2022 MTV Awards
K-pop juggernaut, BTS, has become the most nominated group at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV-VMAs), receiving nominations from a total of four categories. Simultaneously, rappers like Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X topped the list of solo artists—earning seven nominations each.
MTV announced the nominees on Tuesday, the list which also included stars such as Harry Styles and Doja Cat with six nominations each; and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd received five nominations each.
BTS received nominations for the categories of 'Best K-Pop', 'Best Choreography', 'Best Metaverse Performance' and 'Best Visual Effects'.
The kings of K-Pop took home two awards at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards—which included the 'Group of the Year' award, which BTS won with 25 million online votes. Nominees for this year's 'Group of the Year' and 'Song of the Summer' will be announced later, with the winners picked using social media.
The MTV Video Awards will take place on Aug 28, at New Jersey's Prudential Center.
