DNCC to administer vitamin A-plus capsule to 8,71,019 children
Keeping the coronavirus pandemic situation in mind, DNCC is going to run "Vitamin A-plus" campaign at 1,905 centres for 14 days in all its wards, targeting 8,71,019 children.
As a part of the National Vitamin A-plus campaign organised by Health and Family Welfare Ministry, this campaign will be implemented by DNCC during October 4-17 in 54 wards with an aim to administer vitamin A-plus capsules to children aged between six to 59 months.
Children, aged between six and 11 months, will be given the blue-coloured capsules, while those aged between 12 to 59 months will receive the red coloured ones.
During a press briefing at DNCC office in Gulshan-2, its Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza informed the journalists about the campaign.
Speaking at the briefing, he said, "During this pandemic situation, running such activity is a challenge. However, we will ensure the highest safety measure possible."
"Volunteers and health workers have been trained to run the campaign properly so that the targeted children can receive the capsules."
Chief Health Officer Brig Gen Mominur Rahman Mamun said, "As the coronavirus still exists, this campaign will run for two weeks unlike previous years, so that parents can take their children on any day during this period without causing large gatherings."
