Dead CMP constable was Covid-19 positive
Constable Mamun Uddin, 28, who died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital on June 1, tested Covid-19 positive today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (public relation) of CMP Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.
Siddique said Mamun's test report was received today which showed he was Covid-19 positive.
With Mamun, three CMP police personnel have died of coronavirus so far, added the ADC.
Mamun was admitted to Dampara Divisional Police Line Hospital's Flu Corner on May 29 with fever and other coronavirus-like symptoms.
Later, he went into cardiac arrest on June 1 and was shifted to CMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. His samples were collected after his death to be tested for Covid-19.
He was buried at Feni's Porshuram upazila following health measures.
The deceased, Md Mamun Uddin -- hailing from Feni's Porshuram -- was a constable of Public Order Management (POM) division of CMP, police sources said.
According to the police, with Mamun, 17 personnel of Bangladesh Police have died of Covid-19 so far.
