Swindling Tk 1.15 crore: 3 members of fraud gang sent to jail in Noakhali
A court in Noakhali today sent three members of a fraud gang to jail in a case filed for embezzling Tk 1.15 crore from people in different areas including Noakhali and Chandpur.
A judge of Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after they were produced before the court with five-day remand prayer, said Md Rafiqul Islam, inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Noakhali.
A team of Noakhali CID police with the help of Dhaka's Jatrabari Police Station arrested the trio from a flat of Kadamtali area in the capital last night, said the CID official.
The arrestees are Jahangir Sheikh alias Al Amin of Bagerhat, Sanwar Hossain Sanu alias Hasan of Gazipur and Ruhul Amin of Munshiganj, our Noakhali correspondent reports, quoting the police official.
On February 11, the CID arrested three more accused in the case from Dhaka's Matuail area, according to the CID office.
Talking to the journalists, Bashir Ahmed, special superintendent of Noakhali's CID, said the arrested persons had swindled Tk 1.15 crore from people by exploiting greed for more profit at different times.
A victim, Md Faruk, a furniture trader, filed a case with Sonaimuri Police Station last year in this connection.
Considering the importance of the case, CID's Noakhali office took charge of the investigation on its own initiative and arrested them, added SP Bashir Ahmed.
