Human trafficking to India: 2 members of transnational racket confess to involvement
Two members of a transnational racket today confessed to a magistrate that they were involved in trafficking young women and girls to India for one year.
They are: Mehedi Hasan Babu and Mohiuddin.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas recorded the confessional statements of Mehedi and Mohiuddin after the duo were produced at the magistrate's chamber on completion of a five-day remand in a case filed for trafficking a young girl who returned home from India last month after escaping captivity, court sources said.
However, the details of their confessional statements could not be known immediately.
After recording their confessional statements, the magistrate sent them to jail.
Besides, another accused Abdul Kader was also sent to jail.
On June 3, the three were placed on five-day remand in the case after police on June 2 arrested them.
After returning home, the victim on June 1 filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station accusing 12 people, including Rifadul Islam Ridoy, also known as "Ridoy Babo" on mobile app TikTok.
