Road crashes kill 7 in 3 dists
At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Gaibandha and Comilla today.
In Rangpur, three motorcyclists were killed as a motorbike carrying them plunged into aroadside ditch at Rail Gate in Kauniaupazila while overtaking a Kurigram-bound bus around 8:30am, UNB reports quoting police.
The deceased were identified as Abdus Sattar Shaku, 55, Abul Kalam, 25, and Soleman, 28, said Abdul Aziz, officer-in-charge of Kaunia Police Station.
The injured was taken to local hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.
In Comilla, two passengers diedon the spot and threeothers sustained injureswhen a pickup van rammed their rickshaw on Dhaka-Chittagang highway near Palki Cinema Hall of Chandinaupazilaaround 12:15pm, our local correspondent reports quoting police.
Deceased Majeda Begum, 62, and Jannatul, 26, were residents of Balasharin Chandinaupazil, said Nasir Uddin Mridha, officer-in-charge of Chandina Police station.
In Gaibandha, a Sayedpur-bound bus of KhalekEnterprise from Dhaka collided with another bus from opposite direction on Bogra-Rangpur highway in Boaliaarea of Gabindaganjupazila around 10:00am, leavingtwo passengers dead on the spot and 21 others injured of both the vehicles, reports our correspondent.
One of the deceased was identified as Mehdi Hasan, 35, ofBakulgaivillage in Joypurhatwhile the identity of another could not be known immediately, said Akhteruzzaman, officer-in-charge of highway police ofGabindaganj.
The injuredwere taken to GabindaganjUpazila Health Complex and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, Bogra.
