Petrol pump owners threaten strike Aug 28

Petrol pump and tank-lorry owners and workers have threatened for a countrywide token strike on August 28 if the government does not meet their 12-point demand by then.

Md Nazmul Haque, convener of Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners-Workers Unity Council, announced the ultimatum at a press briefing at a hotel in Dhaka today.

Their demands include enhancement of commission on selling fuel and tank lorry fare, accident insurance equivalent to Tk 5 lakh for tank-lorry workers and stop harassment by police on the highways.
