A court in Natore yesterday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a physically challenged girl while another court awarded the same punishment to two others for killing a man.
The convicted rapist is Alal Uddin, 35, son of late Saibullah of Jongli Mandalpara village in Natore Sadar upazila.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Mohammad Mainul Islam pronounced the verdict. The judge also fined Alal Tk 50,000.
Alal took the 13-year-old physically challenged girl to his room on September 9 in 2008 and raped her.
The victim's father lodged a case with Natore Sadar Police Station on September 10.
Another court sentenced Sumon Ali, son of Motahar Ali of the village, and Abdul Alim, son of Kala Mian of Tebaria village, to life imprisonment for killing a man at Ramnagar village in 2014.
District and Sessions Judge Rezaul Karim pronounced the verdict. The court acquitted three other accused.
The convicts hacked Arman Ali to death at Ramnagar village on September 13 in 2014.
Arman's father Babul Uddin Member lodged a case with Natore Police Station, accusing five people, including Alal.
