Two PSTU staffers terminated on different grounds
Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) authorities have terminated two of its staff for their involvement in misappropriation of university fund, hiding information, misconduct and abstention at workplace.
Those who were terminated are Public Relation Department (PRO) Deputy Director Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman and bus driver Abdul Qader.
Although PSTU Registrar Swadesh Chandra Samonto issued separate termination letters on February 20 and February 24, the university authorities handed over its copies to the local journalists yesterday.
PRO Mahfuzur, who recently came out of prison, following a case filed by his wife under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, didn't even bother to inform the PSTU authorities of the matter, the registrar said.
Moreover, he often remained absent at his workplace without informing the authorities concerned, the registrar said, adding that Mahfuzur also took bribes from a number of job seekers in the name of giving them jobs in the university office.
On the other hand, Qader, who used to drive a students' bus on Patuakhali-Barishal route, carried general people and realised money in the name of fare, providing fake travel tickets, Samonto said.
He also mentioned that the university authorities earlier issued separate show cause notices to the sacked staff and were not fully convinced with their reply.
