Pregnant wife killed in Cumilla, husband blamed

A pregnant woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband at Cumilla’s Nangolkot upazila this morning.

Victim Momena Akter, 25, wife of Dulal Palowan of Boksogonj union, was four-month pregnant, our local correspondent reports.

Younger brother of the deceased, Nizam Uddin claims that his brother in-law Dulal killed her sister by strangulation.

“There were bruises on Momena’s body,” Nizam said. “After murdering her, he and his family is saying that she committed suicide.”

Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nangolkot Police Station said that police sent the body for autopsy after recovering it from Dulal’s house.

“We are investigating into the matter,” the OC added.
