Modi extends Eid greetings to PM Hasina
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina over phone and extended greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to her and the people of Bangladesh.
The Indian PM also conveyed his best wishes for the good health and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the friendly people of Bangladesh.
"The Indian premier phoned the Bangladesh prime minister at about 5:45pm and extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to her and the people of Bangladesh," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
During the five-minute telephone conversation, he said, the Bangladesh prime minister also extended Eid greetings to Narendra Modi and the people of India.
The two leaders wished continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the two neighbouring countries.
The duo shared their assessment of the damage caused by Cyclone Amphan in both the countries, reports our New Delhi correspondent quoting a statement of the Indian Prime Minister's Office.
They also discussed the Covid-19 pandemic situation and the ongoing collaboration between India and Bangladesh in this regard, according to the statement from the Indian PMO.
The Indian premier, during the conversation, reaffirmed India's support to Bangladesh in addressing these challenges, the statement added.
