Man killed by son for property
A man was killed by his son for property in Azmeriganj upazila of Habiganj.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Ullah said this during a press briefing at his office in the town yesterday.
Police arrested one Monir Ahmed, 30, son of Emad Uddin of Jakiganj municipality in Sylhet, and his mother-in-law Sufia Khatun, 55, of Kalaiura village in Sylhet's Bianibazar upazila.
Prime accused Kawsar Ahmed, a first-year student of MC College, is still at large.
In a general diary filed with Ajmeriganj Police Station on January 6, Kawsar said his father Omar Ali went missing on December 31 last year.
After investigation, it was found that Kawshar gave Monir and Sufia Tk 5,000 to kill Omar Ali.
Later, Omar was hacked to death and the body was dumped in the Sonai river. On January 21, police recovered the body from the river.
The arrestees gave confessional statement to the Senior Judicial Magistrate's court in Azmeriganj under Section 164 on Wednesday night, said the police official.
Police were raiding different areas to arrest Kawsar, he said.
