Man killed in bomb attack
A man was killed in a bomb attack by rivals allegedly over previous enmity at Pirpukuria village in Chuadanga's Damurhuda upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased, Abul Kalam Kalu, 31, was son of Ketab Ali of the village.
Criminals hurled two crude bombs on Kalu while he was going to a local market from his house around 8:30pm, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damurhuda Police Station Sukumar Bishwas said, adding that Kalu died on the spot.
Chuadanga Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahbubur Rahman visited the spot and said the murder might have taken place due to previous enmity.
OC Mahbubur said Kalu had a previous rivalry with Penga Bishwas of the village.
Earlier, following an extramarital affair with Penga's wife Roksana Khatun, Kalu eloped with her and married her about four months ago.
Later, Kalu was arrested by police and then sent to jail after Penga filed a case in this regard.
Kalu came out of the jail on September 12 and told Penga that he would take away Roksana once again that triggered a fresh rivalry between them, which might be the reason behind the murder, the OC said.
Police are trying to arrest Penga who went into hiding after the incident, the OC added.
