Jaukura-Nazirganj ferry service remains suspended for 5 days
Ferry service on Jaukura-Nazirganj river route (Rajbari-Pabna) has remained suspended due to lack of navigability, affecting people from some southern and northern districts.
The Roads and Highways Department stopped the service on the route since 18 January and are currently looking for an alternative route, our Faridpur correspondent reports quoting an engineer of the highways department.
“We have suspended the ferry service since 18 January on this route due to lack of navigability. We will move this ferry route to a new place very soon. I hope, we will start the ferry service after 25 January,” said KBM Saddam Hossain, Executive Engineer of the RHD in Rajbari.
More than hundreds of buses, trucks and other vehicles from Rajbari and Faridpur and other southern districts use this route to go Pabna, Sirajganj and other northern districts. Now they have to travel more 200 kilometres more to reach their destination.
