Ferry service resumes after 4 hours

Ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma river resumed after four hours of disruption caused by dense fog yesterday.

Mostofa Kamal, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Kathalbari, said after midnight, the density of fog started to rise gradually stranding four ferries on the middle of the river.

The ferry service was suspended around 4:00am to avoid accident. The ferry service resumed around 8:00am when the fog disappeared.

Around 400 vehicles were waiting on both sides to cross the river, said Kamal.
