Cumilla district declared locked down
Local administration locked down Cumilla district to contain the spread of the coronavirus situation, after a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee was held at the deputy commissioner's office this afternoon.
If anyone violates the instruction, he or she will have to face legal action, our local correspondent reports.
A public circular has been issued by the district's Deputy Commissioner Abul Fazal Mir.
All entry and exit points have been restricted following the decision. The restriction will remain in effect until further notice, but the transportation of goods will remain out of the purview.
Besides, all public transport and public gathering will remain restricted.
Only emergency services including medical services, agricultural goods and food supply will be free from the restriction.
Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Abul Fazal Mir along with Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam, Civil Surgeon Md Neyatuzzaman and high officials of the district were present at the meeting.
