Challenged teen gang-raped

A mentally challenged teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped in Khirichi Purbapara area of Jashore's Monirampur upazila on Friday.

Police said one Monirul of the area developed a close relationship with the 18-year-old girl, saying he would marry her.

On Friday night, Monirul took the girl to a field in the area. Later, Monirul and three other local youths -- Sohag, Hafizur Rahman and Abujar Hossain--raped her.

Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. However, the rapists managed to flee the scene.

The victim was sent to a hospital for medical test, said Enamul Haque, inspector of Monirampur Police Station, adding that a case was filed, accusing the four.
