Bullet-hit robber arrested after gunfight in Bogura: Police
A robber was arrested with bullet wounds after a gunfight with police in Bogura's Shibganj upazila early today, said police.
Three policemen were also injured during the "gunfight", reports our Bogura correspondent, quoting police.
The alleged robber -- Zillur Rahman (48)of Baluyahaat village in Sonatala upazila -- is now undergoing treatment at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital under police custody.
On information that a group of 10 to 12 robbers stopped two microbuses and a three-wheeler in Nagarjani area, a team of policereached the spot around 2:00am, said SM Badiuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.
"Sensing our presence, the robbersfired at our vehicle, forcing us to fire back that triggered the gunfight," he said.
"After the gunfight, we managed to arrest the bullet hit robber and sent him to the hospital immediately," said OC Badiuzzaman.
The injured police constables -- Rajib Hossain, Bachchu Mia, and Ashiqul Haque -- received treatment at Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
Police claimed to have recovered a shutter gun, two matches and bamboo sticks from the spot.
OC Badiuzzaman said Zillur is accused in five cases, including robbery, filed with Sonatala Police Station.
