BGB raids 2 bordering villages
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives seized firearms and ammunition from two bordering villages in Shibganj upazila yesterday and on Wednesday.
A team of BGB, acting on a tip-off, raided Raghab Bati area, some 500 yards from the zero line, in the upazila around 4:30am and challenged a man seeing suspicious activities, Commanding Officer (CO) of BGB 53 Battalion Lt Col Sajjad Sarwar.
Meanwhile, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the man hurriedly entered Indian territory, leaving his travel bag behind, the CO said, adding that after searching the bag the BGB men recovered two pistols, three magazines and thirteen bullets.
Meanwhile, BGB conducted a drive in Hudmapara area around 9:15pm on Wednesday and seized a pistol, a magazine and four bullets hidden under a heap of straw, BGB 59 Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Salahauddin said, adding that none was held in this connection.
