Abducted boy rescued after 4 days
A boy, who was abducted on January 25, was rescued from Mymensingh yesterday and five people were arrested in this connection.
Earlier on January 27, two men were arrested in connection with the abduction, Chandan Debnath, senior assistant director of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-14 Bhairab camp in Kishoreganj, said.
The victim, Jitu Mia, 12, is son of Al-Amin Mia of Kashimpur village in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The arrestees are Chand Mia alias Kalo, 32, Azizul Hakim, 22, Khairul Islam Emon, 22, Alamigir Hossain, 22, and Ershad Ali, 25, of Mymensingh and Lokman Hossain Khadem, 40, and Furkan Khadem, 30, of Kharampur village in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Day labourer Chand Mia worked at the house of Al-Amin and left the house following an altercation with Al-Amin on January 23.
Out of anger, Chand Mia abducted the boy from Kashimpur village on January 25.
Later, the abductors demanded Tk 3 lakh ransom from the victim's father over cellphone and asked him to come to Durjoy crossing point in Bhairab upazila with the money.
On information, Rab men in guise of relatives reached the spot on January 27 and arrested two abductors, said Chandan Debnath.
Following the arrestees' confessional statements, the elite force raided a house beside Mymensingh Agriculture University early yesterday and rescued the boy.
They also arrested five abductors from the spot.
