300 sacks of govt wheat seized, 2 held
Bogura police seized 300 sacks (50 kg per sack) of government wheat from a private warehouse in Boro Dhadash area of Rajshahi’s Belpukur upazila yesterday and arrested two people in this connection.
They also seized a stolen truck from the spot, said SM Badiuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station.
The arrestees are alleged robber Md Azadul Islam, 40, son of Abdus Samad of Natore’s Gurudaspur upazila and Md Enamul Haque, 31, son of Md Afsar Ali of Sirajganj’s Sahazatpur upazila. Enamul rented out the warehouse.
On contract, a private company named Three Star was carrying the wheat worth Tk 16.5 lakh from Narayanganj to the government warehouse in Joypurhat, said the OC.
On Thursday afternoon, four robbers took away the wheat-laden truck from Telipurkur area in Bogura Sadar upazila.
Later, trucker Md Yusuf filed a robbery case with Sadar Police Station, accusing four unknown people, said the police official.
On information, police raided the private warehouse around 3:00am and seized the wheat-laden truck. They also arrested the duo from the spot.
