3 of a family found dead at their residence in Pabna
Police recovered the decomposed bodies of three members of a family from a house in Dilalpur, Pabna town this afternoon.
The body of Abdul Jabbar (60), a retired senior officer of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, was found in one room while the bodies of his wife Summa Begum (55) and their daughter Sanjida Khatun (12) were recovered from another room in the house that the family rented, said Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
OC Nasim Ahmed said after being informed by neighbours that the family had not been coming to the door and that a foul smell was emanating from the house, a police team went to the spot and recovered three bodies from the house at 3:00pm.
"The perpetrators strangled and stabbed the victims to death. The victims may have been killed two or three days earlier," the OC said.
Police were preparing to send the bodies to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy in the evening, when this report was filed.
The reason behind the killing is not clear but the police are investigating the triple murder, the police official said.
Talking to our Pabna correspondent, Nazma Begum, sister of Abdul Jabbar, said her brother along with his family had been living in the rented house for four years.
"My brother has no conflict with anyone, [but] it might be a planned murder," Nazma said.
Sheikh Rafikul Islam, superintendent of Pabna police, told our correspondent, "The murder might have been pre-planned or robbery. It will be clear after the investigation ends."
Police are looking into matter from different angles to unearth the real perpetrators of the crime and the motive behind the murder, added the SP.
