Mother seeks justice
Local people formed a human chain in Adalatpara area of the district town yesterday, protesting the killing of a Bangladeshi woman, allegedly by her husband, in Malaysia.
Anisur Rahman and Momotaj Begum, parents of the victim Sajeda-e-Bulbul, 29, and local elite Gazi Mainuddin Tarjon, among others, addressed the gathering.
They requested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take steps to bring back Bulbul's body.
“We demand justice for the killing of my daughter,” Bulbul's mother Momotaj said.
Bulbul's body is with the Malaysian police, victim's sister Khadija Parvin Upama said.
“We heard that Malaysian police have arrested some people allegedly involved in the killing, but we do not know if Bulbul's husband Shahjada has been arrested or not,” she said.
Police took Mugdho, 7, daughter of Bulbul, from Shahjada's sister's house in Andua village under Mirzaganj upazila on July 16 and handed her over to Bulbul's parents, Upama said. Mugdho is a student of Class I, she added.
Bulbul was killed, allegedly by her husband, in Malaysia on July 5. The killer packed the body in a suitcase and dumped it in a forest. Police recovered the body and informed a relative of Bulbul in Malaysia, who identified the victim and informed her family in Bangladesh.
