Customs officials seized around 7,000 mobile phone sets worth Tk 20 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this morning.
The mobile sets were brought by a Hong Kong Airways fight that landed at the airport at 10:40am, Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, told The Daily Star.
On secret information, the team launched a search at the cargo section of the airport and recovered the mobile sets in 24 cartons, the customs official added.
Market value of the seized mobile sets is estimated at Tk 20 crore, the official said.
Earlier on May 28, the Customs officials also seized around 15,000 mobile sets worth Tk 30 crore from the same place which was also brought by a flight of Hong Kong Airways.
