BSMRSTU asst proctor Humayun reappointed
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University Assistant Proctor Humayun Kabir, who resigned immediately after the attack on the students protesting for removal of its vice-chancellor, was reappointed to the post.
Registrar Prof Nuruddin Ahmed of BSMRSTU in Gopalganj issued an office order today in this regard.
Humayun, a lecturer of sociology department, expressed his gratitude to the university authorities for keeping trust in him and vowed to continue his fight against injustice and irregularities.
“I resigned in protest of the attack on my students… I will try to discharge my duties with sincerity to maintain a congenial educational atmosphere on the campus,” Humayun told The Daily Star.
BSMRSTU students started demonstrating on the campus on September 18 demanding removal of its vice-chancellor Prof Khondoker Nasiruddin, bringing allegation of corruption in development projects and nepotism in recruitment.
A group of outsiders attacked the agitating students on their way to campus on September 21, leaving at least 20 of them injured. Humayun resigned soon after the attack.
On September 30, the VC resigned after a five-member committee of University Grants Commission recommend his withdrawal.
