Banker goes ‘missing’ in Dhaka

A senior officer of a private bank reportedly has been “traceless” from Dhaka city’s Niketan area since yesterday afternoon.

Naimul Islam Saikat, a senior officer of Brac Bank’s Shyamoli branch, was heading to the bank’s head office in Gulshan area with some year-ending documents, Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station, said quoting Saikat’s wife.

He made a phone call to his wife informing that he was going to the head office and would return home in the afternoon but, when she called him around 1:00pm, the call was unanswered, the police official said.

Later, his phone was found switched off and the device was last tracked around 2:20pm in Niketan area, he added.

His family filed a general diary with the police station in this connection this afternoon, the OC said.
