Trauma Centre declared as isolation unit in Feni

A Trauma Centre located at Mohipal in Sadar upazila of Feni was declared as an isolation unit for the treatment of coronavirus-infected patients.

The decision came at a meeting between M Sazzad Hossain, civil surgeon of Feni, and officials of the district health department yesterday, reports our correspondent from Feni today.

"Covid-19 patients will be admitted at the centre from now on. But If the physical condition of any patient deteriorates, he or she will be referred to Dhaka, as there are no intensive care unit facilities here," said the civil surgeon.

After the 20-bed Trauma Centre was declared an isolation unit, a 28-year-old man, hailing from Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni, was shifted here from Feni Sadar Hospital yesterday as he has tested positive with coronavirus, said Sazzad.

The coronavirus-infected patient is the first admitted patient 14 years after Trauma Centre was built in 2006, as authorities were unable to begin operations there, he said.

Six doctors and 10 staffers, including nurses and ward boys, will be on duty at the isolation unit for the treatment of the coronavirus positive patients, said the civil surgeon.
