'Save us from stalkers'
Following weeks of harassment by a group of alleged stalkers, a pair of twin sisters in Faridpur wrote to the upazila nirbahi officer for protection.
The 13-year-old sisters submitted their written allegations to the UNO on Wednesday morning.
They said Mizan, 25, Tamal, 22, Akmal, 21, Raju, 22, Rony, 20, Rashed, 21, Imran Bapari, 23, and Ayub Khalasi, 25, had been harassing them for the last few weeks.
The sisters also alleged that the stalkers were politically connected.
Moreover, they said, the group, on motorbikes, tried to abduct them on their way to school last Sunday.
The stalkers failed as they were accompanied by their brother. But he was beaten up by the group as he tried to save his sisters, they added.
Afterwards, the stalkers came to their residence around 11:00am and attacked two of their cousins, who tried to protect the girls.
When asked, Charbhadrasan UNO Kamrunnahar said she had received the written allegations from the girls. She said they would conduct drives in the area and the stalkers would be sent to jail after being produced before the court.
Ram Prosad Vakto, officer-in-charge of Charbhadrasan Police Station, said the girls' family did not inform them of the incident.
“Still, informed by locals, we have visited the area and are looking into the matter seriously,” he added. “We are trying to arrest those involved in the attack and the attempted abduction.”
