No 'anti-independence people' in Victory Day events
People "who were against the independence" of the country cannot be invited as guests in any programme marking Victory Day, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said yesterday.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on overall security arrangement regarding the celebrations on December 16.
On that day, outdoor programmes after dusk and use of loudspeakers around the National Memorial in Savar will not be allowed, the minister said.
“Outdoor programmes after dusk can be held following permission.
There is no curb on indoor programmes. However, if anyone wants to organise any indoor programme after evening, he/she will have to take permission from the authorities concerned,” he said.
He also said there would be no archways on the road leading to the national parade ground and the National Memorial in Savar. There will be tight security arrangements for VIP and VVIP movement at the two places, he added.
Responding to a query regarding Rohingya repatriation, Kamal said the foreign minister was working to form a joint working group with Myanmar by November 30.
